Claude to track roof, insurance and permit deadlines

Bryce Watson received a homeowners insurance nonrenewal tied to his roof's age. Replacing a roof with solar panels created several dependencies, while a records search also surfaced three expired contractor permits. He used Claude Code, with early research from Codex, to keep one dated note per problem and connect emails, contracts, quotes and deadlines.

How the agent did it

  1. Create dated notes for the insurance, roof and each permit.
  2. Compare quotes, contracts and deadlines against original emails and documents.
  3. Review drafts, make commitments yourself and record completed and pending actions.

Claude caught unsupported roof years in insurance applications and discrepancies in coverage and discounts. It also noticed conflicting workmanship warranty terms and the need to coordinate solar removal with the installer and lender. For a final inspection the city portal would not schedule, the agent found that the inspection type was retired and drafted an email instead.

Watson retained the actions that committed him: most sending, payments, signatures and final submissions. He checked important dates and amounts against original records. That habit also exposed mistakes in the assistant's own summaries and drafts, including an obsolete legal penalty and stronger wording than a contractor had used.

The account, published September 29 and checked September 30, reports replacement policies issued and paid and two permits passing final inspections. The roof had been selected but was not finished, and a third permit remained open. The output was coordinated household follow-through with explicit unfinished work.

Frequently asked questions

What stayed with the homeowner?

Payments, signatures, final submissions and almost all sending, with drafts read before use.

Why check an original record instead of the assistant's note?

A summary supplied the wrong policy end date, and draft wording sometimes strengthened other people's claims.

What remained unfinished?

The roof contract needed fixes before signing, the third permit awaited the city, and drainage work still needed arranging.
